US Solar Industry Grows Despite Economy

According to a few announcements that have been made at Solar Power International, despite the dismal U.S. economy, the solar industry keeps right on growing. The solar energy industries association (SEIA) along with GTM Research released a report that shows that solar installations in 2010 are up more than 100% over 2009.

Vice President's Report Predicts Solar Grid Parity In 2015

The U.S. is on track to achieve four major innovation breakthroughs thanks to American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) investments, according to a new analysis from the office of Vice President Joe Biden. One of the expected breakthroughs is halving the cost of solar power in half by 2015, putting solar electricity prices on par with the cost of retail electricity from the grid.

Calif. Desert on Pace to Become World's Solar Capital

Southern California is poised to become the world's solar power capital as the Obama administration continues to stamp its approval on large-scale renewable energy projects across the Mojave and Colorado deserts. The nine solar projects, along with one in Arizona and four in Nevada, have been placed by the Interior Department on a "fast-track" permitting schedule that should qualify developers to receive  federal ARRA grants.

A new report from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) examines the growth and efficacy of FITs and focuses on how these policies can be used in the U.S. The policy is known for spurring dramatic growth of renewable energy in Europe during the past decade.
